Why Acne Scars Form
Even if you don't have acne anymore - the sites of old acne spots can cause significant change to the layers of your skin.
Strong fibrous "bands" beneath the skin, tether the dermis downward, contributing to rolling or depressed scarring. This makes the skin look uneven especially under certain lighting.
Step 1 - Subcision
Using a cannula and refined technique, these fibrous bands of tissue can be physically broken down.
Subcision has been a toolkit of expert skin doctors for years and has robust data to show how effective it is.
By addressing this deeper structural component - the skin sits more freely and can respond better to the cutting edge regenerative treatments in the next steps.
Step 2 - Polynucleotide support within the treated plane
After release of tethering, polynucleotides are introduced within the same treatment plane as part of a broader regenerative strategy.
The aim is to support skin quality, recovery, and tissue environment in a way that complements the structural work already performed

Step 3 - Microneedling for surface refinement
Using SkinPen® Precision Elite - arguably the best microneedling device on the market - millions of microchannels are made into the surface of the skin.
This boosts collagen production and encourages the cells within your skin to regenerate. Fuelled by polynucleotides below and stimulated by microneedling above - this creates a synergistic effect to rejuvenate your skin.
Step 5 - Smoother, more even-looking skin
The goal here isn't perfectly flawless skin, but a visible softening of scar depth, improved texture and a more even overall appearance.
Estimated improvement varies by scar type, skin condition and the number of sessions.
For best results, a course of three sessions done over several months is recommended.
FAQs
How many sessions are typically required?
While every skin condition is unique, most patients see significant results after a course of three sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. During your consultation, Dr Hussein will curate a tailored map for your specific scarring type.
Is the subcision process painful?
We prioritise your comfort. A local anesthetic is applied to the treatment area first to ensure the procedure is comfortable.
What is the downtime after treatment?
Some redness and mild swelling are expected for 48-72 hours. Most patients return to their normal skincare routine within a few days. We provide comprehensive aftercare guidance to ensure your recovery is smooth and restorative.
